Created in response to Water Resistance, this work combines watercolor and handwritten text as a diary rather than a statement. Beginning with water collected from the Alte Donau, it moves through fragments of memory, current events and personal observations, questioning how artists respond to ecological crises and what exhibitions can still offer beyond awareness. Water appears both as material and metaphor shaping landscapes, memories and the vessels that attempt to contain it.
Natalia Gurova is an artist and writer based in Vienna. Her work explores relationships between materiality, memory and social infrastructures through sculpture, installation, watercolor and text. Beginning with careful observation and research, she traces unexpected connections between everyday objects, societal structure and historical narratives. Rather than illustrating political themes, her practice creates spaces where different temporalities, forms of knowledge and lived experiences intersect.
Natalia Gurova was born in Belarus, grew up in Russia, and has lived and worked in Austria since 2014. From 2018 to 2025, she studied object sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Julian Goethe. She received the Academy’s Recognition Award for her diploma project. Her works have been exhibited at venues including Vienna Art Week, Vienna Design Week, wienwoche, Parallel Vienna, the Austrian Cultural Forum London, the Queer Museum at the Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art, Belvedere 21, and musa (Vienna Museum).
