Title: We Already Know, We Only Need to Remember

Collective N&N is a mother daughter artistic collaboration between Negin Rezaie and her mother, ANIA, two Indigenous Bakhtiari women born in southern Iran. Negin is a multidisciplinary and performance artist, while ANIA is a painter and poet. Through performance, drawing, poetry, movement, and memory, their practices become a shared language—a continuous dialogue across generations. At the heart of their work is storytelling, particularly forms of women’s resistance carried through bodies, gestures, oral histories, everyday rituals, and poetic and nonverbal forms of expression.

Drawing from Bakhtiari memory and culture, tattoo and henna traditions, poetry, mark-making, and performance, N&N explore reality, truth, memory, and perception through curiosity, play, and imagination. The body becomes a living archive, carrying traces of experience, resistance, and intergenerational knowledge. By creating multiple realities and non-realities, they open temporary spaces where inherited histories can be revisited, disrupted, transformed, and imagined otherwise.
